Urban Alchemy: Artifacts Transformation is a collaborative art and community event showcasing the innovative work of 27 Detroit-area found-object artists in two galleries in the Woodbridge Historic District in Detroit. Urban Alchemy is the first major fundraiser for the Architectural Salvage Warehouse of Detroit, a not-for-profit organization that deconstructs old buildings so the quality, valuable and often historic materials can be reborn instead of dumped in landfills. The Urban Alchemy artists share the passion and mission of the Architectural Salvage Warehouse – transforming the city’s wealth of found and salvageable materials. Urban Alchemy: Artifacts Transformation Art Exhibition and Community Event is the first major fundraiser for the Architectural Salvage Warehouse of Detroit in collaboration with 555 Gallery, 4731 Gallery and the Woodbridge Neighborhood Development Corp. In the exhibition of 27 Metro Detroit Artists and Transformed Doors Auction rediscover the wealth of Detroit’s found and salvageable resources with a collaborative art and community event in a revitalized neighborhood and emerging arts corridor.
